GR: Episodic gaming is all the rage right now, and when most people think episodic, they think Telltale Games who also has a very prominent episodic series about zombies. Capcom also tried their hand at episodic zombies in Resident Evil: Revelations in 2012, on the Nintendo 3DS of all places, and surprisingly it worked. Resident Evil: Revelations 2 goes back to the same format on the eighth-generation consoles, and oddly enough it works again. The key term here is oddly, because the whole gameat least for the first episodefeels very disjointed, and yet almost impossibly fuses itself together into something worth playing.

Adam Cook writes: There are two lines in this first episode of Revelations 2 that made me burst out laughing. Both are among the best pieces of dialogue Ive heard in years, and also the most stupid. Its uncharacteristically self-aware from a series that is as beloved as it is confusing, and made me feel elated and truly excited to play more. And that sums up episode one on the whole. Its a healthy length at up to two hours, introduces a suitably daft story, reintroduces old characters, and actually made me jump on more than one occasion. This isnt Resident Evil of old, though; its very modern indeed, with fast-paced gunplay and movement. In fact, the moment to moment experience is summed up really easily: its a bloody fun shooter.
